Valentine’s Day is celebrated all across the world on the 14th February. Though there are different opinions on where the tradition stems from, it is most well known that Saint Valentine was a man who, in the 1400’s, was killed for aiding the marriage of Christian couples during the war – despite the wishes of the Emperor. This lead to the 14th February being dedicated to romance and love after Valentine’s death. People show their affection for one another by exchanging cards and gifts on this day. Around 1 BILLION cards are exchanged each year on Valentine’s Day, making it the second biggest card sending event – after Christmas which steals first place.
